Uncle Jim Everett puralia meenamatta attended Hobart Magistrates Court, told them they have no jurisdiction to charge him with trespass, and walked out.

Arrested while protecting Country, 3 April 2025

Ruth Langford Tipruthanna was arrested in a Kunanyi/Mt Wellington Range forest for protecting Country. Tipruthanna was bailed that same day.

Convicted and fined asserting Palawa Law in Country, 28 January 2025

Uncle Jim Everett puralia meenamatta was convicted of trespass and fined $500 plus court costs for protecting native forest from logging in March 2024.

Arrested for protecting Country, 21 January 2025

Ruth Langford/Tipruthanna was arrested in an Eastern Tiers logging coupe for answering Uncle Jim’s call to protect Country. She was charged with trespass and released after being given a trial date.

Refusing to bow to colonial courts, 11 December 2024

For a third time, Jim Everett Puralia-Meenamatta did not front court to face trespass charges. Outside Hobart Magistrates Court, Nipaluna, Uncle Jim said the court had no jurisdiction over him and he has a right to protect his Country.

He then walked away.

Arrested asserting Law in Country, 22 October 2024

After being taken into custody on the morning of his 82nd birthday for defending native forests Uncle Jim was bailed, though he refused to sign documents to appear in court on 11 December, 2024.
